Reading this book during the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic may have been eerie in some respects, but mostly it was illuminating to learn about the initial Ebola outbreak followed closely by the AIDS pandemic from the perspective of the intrepid microbiologist Peter Piot, who specializes in fighting infectious diseases.
